Our Mission
To give men with nowhere else to turn the opportunity to overcome addiction through sobriety, work, accountability, and community.
What's Possible
Step was founded in 1983 by recovering alcoholics and addicts joining forces to help homeless men in Denver. Through their own experiences, these individuals recognized sobriety as the primary solution to homelessness. They also knew abstinence is only half the battle and that sustained, long-term recovery is best achieved through rehabilitation, economic opportunity, and self-reliance.
In 2015, Paul Scudo was recruited by the Board of Directors with the goal of implementing a robust addiction recovery, workforce development, and life skills program to reduce recidivism. A four-phase curriculum was developed to address all factors requiring restoration in the lives of Step residents. In 2017 STEP opened Sober Living Homes to further strengthen the probability of sustained recovery.
Step’s second location in Colorado Springs is scheduled to open Fall 2025.
